Who Is Joe?

Joe D. Sutton was a dedicated public servant for 50 years and long time supporter and Board Member of Elder Law of Michigan. Joe’s work embodied the principles that all people have the right to live with dignity and that they have a safe and nurturing environment in which to live. Much of Joe’s pro bono service assisted older adults and their families to plan for a secure economic future.

Joe was a native of Lansing, Michigan and a graduate of Michigan State University and Detroit College of Law. He was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1968.

His career included services as former Assistant Prosecuting Attorney of Ingham County and Michigan Assistant Attorney General for twenty-three years. He retired in 1998 as Deputy Attorney General in Lake City, where he enjoyed his love for nature and the outdoors while still pursuing his life long passion of helping others.
